Easter Greetings

He is not here, He has risen just as He said. Come see the place where He lay. Matthew 28:6

As you read these words consider for a moment what they meant to those who first heard them: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. They came to the tomb at dawn presumably to anoint the body of Jesus, only to be told "He is not here". Their preparations have all been in vain, and they have been denied the opportunity of performing this service for their Lord. Theirs was disappointment indeed.

But more disappointment turned to surprise, doubt and fear. The heavenly messenger however ministers comfort to them as he tells them "Do not be afraid for I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, He has risen". The angel of the Lord appreciated however that something more than words was necessary to calm, assure and convince the women and so he provides the evidence, "Come see the place where the Lord lay".

Having heard the word and seen the evidence they were ready to pass on the good news and so "the women hurried away, afraid yet filled with joy... to tell His disciples" (verse 8). "As they went suddenly Jesus met them. Greetings, He said. They came to Him and worshipped Him" (verse 9).

May any fear and doubt you experience be turned to joy and worship as you by faith meet the Risen Christ this Easter season.
